Base cuts help set intake, exhaust, and transfer port timing. Compression is also increased as the combustion chamber is reduced.
'Squish' Cut
Squish cuts set the clearance from the top of the piston to the cylinder combustion chamber. Proper clearance is crucial. This ensures the desired compression is achieved while avoiding devastating piston/cylinder contact.
'Intake'
Intake machine work further sets port timing and maximizes airflow. The port window is then chamfered smooth.
'Exhaust'
Exhaust machine work finalizes port timing. Port exits are resized to allow better airflow. The port window is also widened and reshaped. The port is then finished with a light polish to reduce carbon build up and chamfered for engine longevity.

Hardwood Lightsaber.
Felt like king author pulling the sword from the stone. The 661 is a beast, the wait time had lead me to believe it would arrive sooner but well worth the wait. Big help for trees down after Helen in WNC.

This saw is a beast! It is worth the wait to get one of these 661's. You can tell right off the bat it is not a stock 661. I'll be sending in my other Stihl's now.

It rips!
Rad saw and well worth the wait. Ordered March and delivered near December. Still slowly breaking it in but super impressed. Bought with a 28" canon bar. Can't wait for some more saws.
